Sports Massage Therapy - Adam Smith

Adam Smith Adv. Dip Mas.Dip

Sports Massage is the scientific manipulation and assessment of the soft tissues for the prevention of injury, while maintaining good physical condition and health through:
• Normalising and improving muscle tone
• Promoting relaxation
• Stimulating circulation
• Producing therapeutic effects on all systems of the body

By palpating the tissues, the therapist is able to locate, identify and treat areas of specific tension within the tissues that could lead to potential injury sites.

Sports massage can be altered to meet the needs of the individual, taking into account the different sports - or the injured area to be treated.

Through massage we can remove the build up of general aches and pains that most people seem to accept or try to suppress with drugs. These aches and pains can lead to more serious problems and so the benefit of Sports Massage lie in injury prevention.

The benefits of Sports Massage are:

Maintains the entire body in better physical condition - improving circulation of blood and lymph to maintain muscle and soft tissue in an optimum state of nutrition.

Extends both the good health and overall life of your athletic career recipient recovers quicker from injury and re-injury chance reduced.

Boosts athletic performance and endurance - reduces muscle soreness, enabling consistent higher levels of training.

Prevents injury and loss of mobility to injured muscle - reduces muscles tightness and restriction, creates improved tone, flexibility and relaxation. Promotes overall muscle balance.
