FAYE MURPHY -Bsc(Hons) Chiropractor
Chiropractic
Faye Murphy qualified from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in South Wales in 2007.
Since then she has been working in Harrogate with private patients and Leeds United (for the last 5 seasons) and Sheffield United Football Clubs.
She first became interested in chiropractic when she received treatment for low back pain at 12 years of age. Like most patients, chiropractic was her last point of call. The treatment she received provided such relief that she knew, without a doubt, that she wanted to help people the way she had been helped.
Faye concentrates on patient education as she believes that when patients understand their problem they are better adapted to manage it effectively. She follow 3 phases of treatment;
- Phase 1 is 'hands on' using gentle manipulation, massage and cranial techniques to gets rid of the initial pain.
- Phase 2 concentrates on rehabilitative exercises to strengthen the area and
- Phase 3 consists of patient advice i.e. postural correction and ergonomics.
To enhance long-lasting results she decided to train as a Pilates instructor and offer both group and personal lessons.
She is very sporty and having acquired a few sports injuries herself the sports field was a natural calling for her. She has been the chiropractor for Leeds United FC for the last 5 seasons and Sheffield United more recently. She also furthered her training in pregnancy and paediatrics as she believes that problems developed during this period for both the mother and infant can cause long-standing issues if not treated when symptomatic. Her aim is to treat the root of the problem and not just the symptoms.
About Chiropractic
The word "Chiropractic" comes from ancient Greek and means "done by hand". It is now the 3rd largest healing profession in the western world after medicine and dentistry. Chiropractors are health professionals concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of conditions that are due to problems with bones, joints, muscles and nerves, particularly those realted to the spine. Chiropractors work on all the joints of the body, concentrating particularly on the spine, using their hands to perform treatment tailored to each individuals needs. Our treatments incorporate a variety of skilled manual techniques involving massage and precise, gentle, manipulation.
Treatment is designed to improve the function of the joints, helping to relieve the body of pain and muscle spasm. Chiropractors provide an individual ‘package of care’ whereby they support their treatment with individual counselling and advice about the patient's lifestyle, work and exercise, in order to help in managing the condition and preventing a recurrence of the problem. Treatment is available to everyone including babies and pregnant women to the very elderly.
