Jonathan Rebanks, physiotherapist

Physiotherapy & Core Stability

Jonathan trained as a physiotherapist at York St John University which included 4 years working within the NHS assisting the physiotherapy team. Since completing his degree in early 2007 he has worked in private practice, gaining experience in a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.

Previous to physiotherapy he worked as a gym instructor / personal trainer. This formed the basis of his work with pilates exercises which he now uses to improve core stability and motor control during the rehabilitation stages of a sporting injury.

Jonathan joined the practice in 2008 and resides in Knaresborough.

Jonathan Rebanks at workPhysiotherapy assists people in their recovery of function following injury. Physiotherapists are trained as first contact practitioners, meaning that patients can self refer directly to the service.

Physiotherapists carry out a detailed assessment of each patient to identify the specific problems relating to their presentation. In collaboration with the patient, the best treatment is then chosen to address their requirements.

During the first session your physiotherapist will ask you a series of questions to gain an understanding of the history of your problem. They will also ask various screening questions about your general health and sporting activites.

Following this, they will conduct a physical examination, including assessment of your posture and movement as well as muscle and joint tests in order to diagnose your problem.

Your physiotherapist will then explain this diagnosis and the expected recovery. Together with you, they will form a treatment plan to suit your commitments and your sporting goals in the context of your injury.

Initial treatment and advice are included in this session. If subsequent sessions are required, your physiotherapist will accompany you to reception to arrange a suitable time for follow up.
