Physiotherapy assists
people in their recovery of function following injury. Physiotherapists are trained as first contact practitioners, meaning
that patients can self refer directly to the service.
Physiotherapists
carry out a detailed assessment of each patient to identify the specific problems relating to their presentation. In collaboration
with the patient, the best treatment is then chosen to address their requirements.
Treatment modalities such as massage, nerve mobilisation,
joint mobilisations, spinal adjustments and exercise therapy are used in this process. Advice is also offered, regarding the
appropriate amount of activity for any given stage of recovery.
