Acupuncture

Elizabeth has been working in the field of Chinese Medicine for twelve years, initially qualifying as a shiatsu practitioner and subsequently as an acupuncturist. For the past four years she has also developed her range of skills working with patients with musclo-skeletal conditions.

Acupuncture is a complete system of healing practiced in China for thousands of years. It is well known for the treatment of pain but can also treat a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.

Traditional Chinese philosophy is based on the idea that our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy - called Qi – moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. By inserting fine needles into these channels the body’s own healing response can be stimulated.

The benefits of acupuncture frequently include more than just relief from a particular condition. Many people find that it can also lead to increased energy levels, improved appetite and better sleep as well as an enhanced sense of overall well being.
