What is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the lower limb. A podiatrist can give professional advice on prevention of foot problems and proper care of the feet and make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals.
Podiatrists are qualified to treat people of all ages with long term medical conditions such as arthritis and diabetes, and also sports injuries and skin and nail conditions. Treatment is for a wide range of foot health problems and disorders our aim is to keep people mobile, to prevent problems and to treat injuries.
Treatments include general foot care which involves reduction of callus and corns and nail care to
biomechanical assessments which may identify any gait or MSK disorders that can be treated with
orthotic therapy.
Initial appointments will involve a consultation and medical history and treatment options will be discussed to suit individual needs. Some treatments may require longer than the initial consultation time.
Foot Health is important to everyone and it is never too early to start thinking about maintaining
your feet.
